ONE SUB-LETTING THAT TURNS SOUR

Most standard tenancy agreements contain a common clause “Not to sublet the demised premises without the consent of the landlord or his agents in writing such consent not to be unreasonably withheld”.  While the clause appears simple to interpret, this particular situation in this story led to great complexity.  The matter later went to arbitration but the settlement terms still appear to have left a bitter taste in the mouth for the parties concerned.  The idea is to learn from the perceived errors that occurred in these events and prevent  this sort of situation from happening too many times.
